Don’t judge a book by it’s cover. On the surface, we may look like a “normal, lucky” couple who have lived a perfect life, and success came easy for us. But we’re not that perfect couple, and it hasn’t been easy.

Welcome to Wealth Well Done. This is our blog about money, happiness, and purpose. My name is Billy B. My wife is Amanda. At one time, I was a total failure in life. I was addicted to partying, drugs, and a bunch of other self-destructive habits. But I cleaned myself up, forgave myself, and tried again. On my journey to fix my life, I fell in love with the philosophy surrounding money, success, happiness and finding purpose in life. That’s what this blog is about.
Us today.
Â
Today we are worth around $300,000. We did this in about six years. We started from basically nothing in 2012. I am a former drug/party addict who quit drugs in 2002. Rather than chase intoxicated highs for the rest of my life, I decided I wanted the life God had for me more than partying:
QUIT DUMB STUFF:
I spent my teenage years wasting my money on weed, fast food, hippy music concerts, and heavy metal CD’s. I say this to let you know: I wasn’t born a natural investor or talented money wizard. I’ve learned how to do it. How? I studied financial investing, and life philosophy, and fell in love with the space where financial investments and life philosophy intersected.
At the age of 22, I looked myself in the mirror, and admitted I was addicted to partying. After seeing people die, get arrested, and become drug addicts, I realized that most of the fun I had partying was an intoxicated, false fantasy world, and I wanted to escape it to find something more meaningful.
Once I got sober, and started living for God, I got my second chance at life. I decided nothing is real – even ideas – until you can prove they exist. So I studied how the greatest leaders (Martin Luther King Jr, Abraham Lincoln, Jesus, Etc) brought their visions to life. I dedicated my life to working my butt off to create the life I dreamed of living. (Subscribe to our weekly email newsletter at the bottom to get my full life story.)
SETTLED DOWN:
I met my wife, Amanda, in 2013. We agree on the most important things in life: like the type of life we wanted to live. But we sometimes disagree on the best strategy to create that life. We’re not perfect, but we enjoy the adventure we’re on together.
SAVED MONEY:
In 2013, I had a net-worth of $20K. My wife had $20K in student loans and car debt. So we started our married life around the $0 net-worth mark. I grew up being terrified of debt, so we both worked our butts off to destroy the debt she had. That year paying off debt really solidified the every-dollar-is-important, money-saving mentality we still have today as the foundation of our marriage.
I took my first step into entrepreneurship/ job-freedom/ and lifestyle-design in 2013 when I started my first business selling promotional products (especially branded apparel) to businesses. My first 6 months in business were hard. I only sold $10,000 worth of product, and I almost gave up because I couldn’t afford to pay my bills. But I stuck with it, and I sold $180,000 worth of product in my next six months.
Once we were making more money than the bills we had to pay (Amanda also had a $15 hour job in a drug treatment facility), we started saving every dollar that we made. Our goal was to become financially free, so we could act like a light in a dark world, and help people create their dream lives however we could.
INVESTED:
We bought our first house in 2014. We learned how to buy stocks in 2015. We bought our first investment property in 2017. Along the way, we learned we had a passion for investing, building wealth, and designing life to fit your deepest dreams. We then started this blog in 2016 to tell our story of what’s worked as we’ve built our life.
We currently own assets valued around $300,000. These investments provide us around $1,000 per month of pure passive income. Our goal is to build this income stream to cover our life expenses, and then do God’s work the rest of our lives.
BUILD WEALTH. CHASE PURPOSE:
Our goal is to eventually be millionaires. Not to look rich, but to be free from ever thinking about money again, so we can spend our time thinking about the things that mean the most to us.
